Enter the break as its own interval

  1. Add the shift’s start and end dates and times.
  2. Add the lunch start and end, including its date if the shift crosses midnight.
  3. Choose Paid or Unpaid for that interval.
  4. Add other breaks separately and review the resulting counted hours.

Several breaks need several checks

Breaks should lie inside the shift and must not overlap. For example, 12:00–12:30 and 12:20–12:45 overlap for ten minutes. Subtracting both complete intervals would deduct those minutes twice. The editor keeps the intervals visible and asks you to edit or remove one deliberately; it does not silently merge the records.

A useful export preserves the distinction

Review the unpaid total separately from paid break time. In the Studio week sample, unpaid breaks total 02:30 and are deducted, while 00:15 of paid break time remains included in 38:15. JSON retains the full editable record; CSV and PDF serve different data and reading needs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter more than one unpaid break?

Yes. Record each break with its own start and end dates and times. The tool deducts the total valid, non-overlapping unpaid minutes once.

Should a paid lunch be added to the shift total?

No. A paid interval inside the shift span is already included. Mark it paid so it is recorded without being deducted or added a second time.
