A night shift across a weekly boundary

Changing the week start changes the reporting range containing the shift’s start date.

The sample shift

A shift starts Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 22:00 and ends Monday, November 2 at 06:00. Its unpaid break is Monday 00:00–00:30. The net amount is 450 minutes, or 07:30.

Compare the reporting ranges

Week startsRange containing the startContribution
MondayOctober 26–November 107:30
Monday, following weekNovember 2–800:00
SundayNovember 1–707:30

The underlying shift has not changed

In both reporting choices, Sunday remains the start date and receives the entire completed shift. The later end date stays visible. The table compares two reporting settings; it does not describe three additional records that should be added together.

Choose the week start before reviewing a report, especially when a card includes weekend nights. This is an app grouping convention. If a separate reporting process requires another allocation method, do not assume this calculator has applied it.

Frequently asked questions

What changes when the week starts on Sunday?

The Sunday start date belongs to a different labeled reporting range. The same whole 07:30 shift remains attached to that date; its duration does not change.

Does the Monday-start week receive part of Sunday’s shift?

The following Monday-start week receives none of that shift. MinuteFolio attributes the complete shift to its Sunday start date.
